Built for BC small business owners: management decisions & monthly KPI tracking · revenue forecasting & break-even analysis · bank loans, investors & partners

Most business owners are making decisions without knowing their real numbers.

Revenue is up. You still don't know if you're profitable.

Revenue isn't profit. Without a model, you can't see your real margin, where costs are leaking, or whether your pricing makes sense as you grow. You're flying without instruments.

You don't know when your business will actually break even.

Break-even isn't just a number for the bank — it's the moment you stop subsidizing your own business. Without a model, that date is a guess. With one, it's a target you can manage toward.

Big decisions — hire, price, expand — are made on gut feeling.

Should you hire now or in 6 months? Can you afford to raise prices? What does Year 2 look like if sales slow down? These questions need numbers, not intuition.

A financial model isn't a document for the bank. It's a management tool you use every month to run your business smarter.

A financial model you use to run your business — not just to show the bank.

Day-to-day management
Running your business on real numbers

Stop guessing whether last month was good or just busy. Open the KPI tab, enter your actuals, and know in 10 minutes exactly where you stand — revenue, margin, break-even progress, and EBITDA vs. plan.

Strategic decisions
Deciding when to hire, expand, or raise prices

Should you hire now or in Q3? Can your margin absorb a rent increase? What does Year 2 look like if you open a second location? The model answers these questions with numbers, not optimism.

Bank & financing
Applying for a business loan

The same model is formatted to CSBFP and Canadian bank standards when you need it — DSCR, 5-year P&L, break-even, and debt service schedule. Our demonstration model for a BC café underwrites to a DSCR of 5.98× against a 1.25× minimum.

Bringing in a partner or investor

A credible financial model closes the gap between 'sounds good' and 'I'm in.' It shows your numbers are real, your assumptions are grounded, and you understand your own business well enough to defend every line.

Former KPMG Deal Advisory · Financial Controller · Credit Underwriter
Artur Podgornyi

I spent five years in Deal Advisory at KPMG, building financial models for M&A transactions worth over $5 billion — across energy, agriculture, and media. Before that, I was Financial Controller at ATOS SE in Zurich, managing P&L reporting for a global corporation with $11B+ in annual revenue. I also worked as a credit underwriter at a major retail bank, where I evaluated the financial models and creditworthiness of SME clients — from the bank's side of the table.

I know what a loan officer looks at. I know what makes a DSCR calculation credible and what raises red flags. I know the difference between a model that gets approved and one that gets sent back with questions.

When you work with Clariva, you're not getting a template filled out by a freelancer. You're getting a model built personally by someone who has done this professionally at the highest level — adapted to your specific business, your industry, and your goals.

“A good financial model doesn't just satisfy the bank. It gives you a document you can actually run your business with.”

Artur Podgornyi — founder of Clariva

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a business plan or a financial model?

They're two halves of one thing. The business plan is the document a bank or investor reads — your story, market, and ask. The financial model is the engine behind it — the spreadsheet that proves the numbers hold. A plan without a real model gets picked apart in the first meeting; a model without a plan never gets a meeting. We build them together, and after the loan is approved the model keeps working for you as a monthly management tool.

Does the business plan cover marketing?

It includes a market and competitor section at the depth a lender needs — market size, competition, and how you'll win customers — enough to make the revenue forecast credible. What it is not is a growth strategy: it doesn't segment your client base by lifetime value, design channel plans, or build a 90-day acquisition roadmap. That's a separate engagement — our Growth Audit. Need both? The Launch Bundle — Plan + Live Model together with the Growth Audit — is CA$5,190 instead of CA$5,680.

Is this the same quality as what consulting firms produce?

Yes — and that's not a marketing claim. Clariva is run by a former KPMG Deal Advisory associate who built financial models for M&A transactions exceeding $5 billion. The methodology, structure, and quality of documentation are identical to what large advisory firms produce. The difference is that you're not paying consulting firm rates — and you're working directly with the person building your model, not a junior analyst.

Do I need accounting experience to use the model?

No. Every section comes with a written explanation. You'll understand what each number means and why it matters.

Is my financial information kept confidential?

Yes. Whatever you share in the intake is used only to build your model — never resold, published, or shown to anyone else. If you'd like a signed NDA before you send anything over, just ask and I'll send one first. Any case study or sample on this site is a fictionalized demonstration; a real client's numbers never appear anywhere public.

What format is the model delivered in?

Microsoft Excel (.xlsx). Works on Mac and PC. Google Sheets version available on request.

Can I update the model myself after delivery?

Yes — on every package that includes the live model (Financial Model, Plan + Live Model, Funded Package) the Excel file is unlocked and editable, and the walkthrough explains how to update your numbers monthly. The Business Plan package delivers your full financials inside the document; if you later want the live engine behind them, you can add it within 30 days for the price difference.

What's the difference between Business Plan and Plan + Live Model?

Both are built on the same custom bottom-up model — we never write a plan without one. The difference is what you keep. With the Business Plan, you receive the document with complete 5-year financials in it — everything a lender needs. With Plan + Live Model, you also keep the editable Excel engine itself: change an assumption and watch the whole forecast recalculate, track actuals monthly on the KPI tab, test a second location before you commit. One is a document; the other is a document plus the instrument that produced it.

What happens if the bank comes back asking for changes?

That's covered — it's the whole point of the After Delivery policy. Changes your lender requests on the same application are free for 60 days on Plan + Live Model, and until approval on the Funded Package. Changes driven by your business evolving — new revenue line, second location, fresh actuals — are priced from a fixed menu starting at CA$290, always quoted before work starts.

Will a bank actually accept this model?

Yes. The model is formatted to meet CSBFP and major Canadian chartered bank requirements for SMB loans. Our demonstration model for a BC café underwrites to a Debt Service Coverage Ratio of 5.98× — the bank's minimum requirement is 1.25×. That's not a close call — it's a model that gives the lender confidence.

How long does it take?

Plan Check: 3–4 business days. Financial models: 5–7 business days from the moment you submit your intake form. Business plans: 7–10 business days. Rush delivery available for an additional fee.

How does the money-back guarantee work?

If the finished model doesn't meet what we agreed in your intake — the structure, the scope, the bank-ready formatting — tell me within 14 days and I'll put it right under your revision round. If it still isn't right, you get a full refund. The guarantee covers work that doesn't meet the agreed standard; it isn't a change-of-mind refund once the model is built to spec.

What if my business is unusual or hard to model?

Artur handles non-standard businesses regularly. The intake form captures your specifics, and there's always room to add a note about anything unusual.

Know your numbers before anyone else asks for them.

Whether it's your next hire, your bank meeting, or just month-end — the answer should never be 'I'm not sure.'

Stop making decisions without a financial model.

Built for management. Ready for the bank. 100% money-back guarantee.
